The Nissan Rogue is expected to see no major changes for 2019. Although a full redesign seemed likely, preliminary order guides indicate the most noteworthy update will be a new special edition.
The Rogue S will gain a new Special Edition Package that adds 17-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, chrome exterior & interior door handles, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, privacy glass, heated front seats & outside mirrors and more. This could make the S a surprising value next to competitors.
Under the hood, there are no indications of any changes in engine specs. The current Rogue comes with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine rated at 170 hp with 175 lb-ft of torque. Although it's possible the vehicle may gain the revised 2.5 liter mill from the upcoming Altima, nothing is official yet.
As the brand's bestselling model, the Rogue has undergone a number of updates. Last year, Nissan added auto emergency braking as a no-cost feature about halfway into the year. For 2019, the brand's ProPILOT semi-autonomous driving system will be available in the mid-level SV trim with the optional Premium Package instead of just the range-topping SL.
Interestingly, despite boasting of a third-row seating option up until recently, the feature was discontinued for 2018. Although some may debate the usefulness of a third-row in a vehicle of this size, the fact remains that most shoppers probably didn't notice. We aren't seeing any signs that the feature will return for 2019.
Stay tuned for a full overview closer to launch.
