Mercedes may develop batteries in China for a new plug-in platform - Mercedes-Benz may produce batteries for its plug-in hybrids and electrical vehicles in China, Reuters replies, quoting comments from Daimler AG board member Hubertus Troika. Sourcing the battery cadres locally would help cut costs and gain more headroom in the rapidly-expanding Chinese busines. Additionally, Mercedes-Benz is working on a new layout scaffold for an updated A-Class vehicle that will include a plug-in hybrid variance, according to Auto Evolution .
Mercedes-Benz's year-to-date auctions in China are up 28 percent to about 429,000 vehicles, so there is some involve force there for possible plug-in vehicle auctions.
